CONTEXT

At a time of rapid global expansion, ERCO required a consistent and advanced understanding of the relationship between architecture and light across its international offices - working on some of the world's most significant cultural projects

THE PROBLEM  / THE INTERVENTION

Knowledge existed but it was fragmented and inconsistent across regions. There was no unified language connecting design thinking, technical expertise and communication.

+ Design quality varied across markets
+ Communication with architects lacked consistency
+ Internal teams operated without a shared conceptual framework

01

Perception

A structured understanding of light and space was developed - capturing ensigns from leading architectural projects and translating them into a coherent design philosophy

02

Expression

Core teaching modules were authored to articulate this thinking clearly, enabling teams to communicate design intent with precision and confidence

03

Performance

A global train-the-trainer model was implemented, embedding knowledge, leadership, and coaching capability across international teams - ensuring consistency at scale.

OUTCOME

+ A shared global design language across ERCO offices
+ Stronger, more consistent communication with architects
+ Elevated internal capability combining design, technical and interpersonal skills
+ A foundation for sustained international growth and reputation

Pre-intervention - 70% German led business

Within 3 years, 23 countries - 60% global business contribution

INSIGHT

Design excellence only scales when it is understood, shared, and consistently communicated
